Tugaske is done!!

Baby Robin's in a bucket on the Hopper cone leg!

Outlook Bin Parts

So, I have been Slacking! We finished in the Yard on Friday!!! WOOOOOWHOOOOO!!!! Then yesterday we spun the 2 bins for the one guy. We were going to do the other as well, but he still had grain in the bottom of the bin... so, no spin for him. Not til we come back to do it anyways! So, we are officially done Tugaske!! Yesterday we took the crane up to Outlook. LOL There are cones every wheres! But, that happens. At least all the bin parts are together!! Now we are back to Tug. We are going to leave tomorrow for home. ahhh home....... I actually still remember that place!!! LOL We might go out to the lake today after breakfast, but we shall see.... I have some neat pics too.......... Birdies in a bucket they put stiffener shims in, all nested in, its neat, here in Tug. Then I have pics of the bins in pieces, in Outlook. I have packing to do tooo!!!!

So, talk to you all later,

Rain, bin's, socks...... OOOH Pirates!!!!!

Well, Dammit. More rain. Who is doing that rain dance? I SAID "WHO IS DOING THAT RAIN DANCE?" Talk about frustrating. We are down to 3 bins here. You hear that. 3 to build, and well 3 to spin(take off the cone turn it so the man hole is on the other side). We can't get to them damn bins in this lovely rain though.... well tomorrow supposed to rain too.... buggers, well I suppose we can hope we get beautiful weather after that!!! I hope!

Anyways, beyond the bins. I am working on that sock. I am almost done the foot. 6 more Rows to the toe. I need to find a good toe up pattern. I wanna try the magic loop method... see how that goes. Eventually!! LOL I have never made toe up socks but am sure I could do it!

We went on Sunday to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3! It was great!! The effects, the make-up, the story! Beautiful. I could go see it again!! Damn it was good :)

So now to tell the rest of the story. We went to see Pirates with a friend :) and we ended up there very early. So we pre-bought the tickets and the choice was to go to the casino(never seen the Moose Jaw casino b4) or go to Blockbuster and see what was up on the previously viewed wall. So, we went to the casino. We all managed to win some. Not big sums but enough to make ya happy, and head for the door. It was a good stop. Then off to the movie! Good thing we bought our tickets early as it was sold out!! yes sold out. So, we went to the casino saw it and then saw the movie, went to Moose Jaw's 24 Hr Tim Horton's(that by the way doesn't say anywheres on the sign that it is open 24-7), had a coffee :) and then back to the hotel.... It was a good movie... :) and hey, looks to be a few more good ones coming too.....

Ah well, was good time had by all us 3.

Monday, put one bin on a cone, built another, split the sheets and taped for the next. And today, rain, work on my sock. Now when the rain goes away, we are ready for the next bin. til then, back to that sock! Then onto a pair of socks for an uncle of mine :)

Catch ya later, my socks are calling!!

Birthday, work and such!

Well, I had a good birthday yesterday. Another year older. *sighs* But I did get to go into the city to spend it with my mom, on the way through Moose Jaw I picked up my sis!! So the 3 of us had a good time. We went to my nephew's concert on Wednesday night! The band is good. Then, Thursday we did some running around . . . had some ice cream cake, well one of them Dairy Queen Log - has more yummy fudgy stuff in the middle, than the cake and we like fudgy stuff in the cakes :) Mom spoiled me, gave me cloths, yarn, embroidery thread.... all the good stuff....

We had a good day to work today too. We got 2 bins up on cones, one ready to build in the morning then we should be building a couple more tomorrow.

So we are on our way to finishing up. Sounds like we will be making a trip home between this job and Outlook. I will take the long way though the city cuz I have some things to pick up from my Sis for a friend. And then I get a little visit with my momma (long as its during the week cuz she be camping all the time now! LOL)

Well, I am off to bed as we are hoping for an early start tomorrow!
Catchya all later!

Bin AlleyMom's Pretty Cascade Fixation Socks
Mom's Candy Kisses Kroy 4 Socks

Circular Needles for trying Magic Loop socks
Current Work in Progressand I think I forgot to tell you all about this little boo boo.... LOL . .. May 10 building roofs, I had a fight with the punch. I was using the punch to line up the holes and well, the punch slipped out of the hole I was using to pull and thwapped me pretty good in the head. In fact, James said "I never seen the punch cut before." LOL Its healed up now, but still feels bruised... only hurts if you push on it.... LOL so, I try not to!! ROTFLMAO One needs to be more careful with them punches!! They can be nasty..... :) So now I make sure I am pushing down and pulling back... much better!!

Well, hope you enjoy the pics! Catchya's again soon!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away......

Hi,
It is another wet one out there today. Yesterday, Was a lot of moisture. And yes the farmer's here need it. But, we don't. Hard to set up the bins in the rain. And also in the wind that has been around. We have a bin ready for the cone, but need the wind to calm before we can mount it on that cone. We have 9 more bins after that! Here, In windy, wet Tugaske. It has been raining off and on today. I think the farmer's should be happy by now, so it can go away!!! At least I thinks so. This hotel living isn't the most exciting. LOL But, We are in good company anyways.

I can't remember if I told you I finished mom's belated socks? Pretty blue, Cascade Fixation!!! beautiful yarn!!! I will take a pic soon as I run down to the truck for the camera! LOL And yes I have the pics of the Roof Lane on there too(the one James crawled up the bin to take a pic of). Very neat pic from up there! Nice view!! I do also have, part of Father's day done... LOL I can truely say I am half way!! LO and will be over half yet this afternoon!! If I can muster the get up and go to get to it!! LOL

anyhow .. ... I keep promising pictures, and yes they are coming..... soon I thinks....
Talk to you later...

I did manage to get the garden in Yesterday(Tuesday). We planted, carrots, beets, turnips, cucumber, zucchini, Kohl Rabi and some potato hills. Figured this stuff was pretty safe with it being plant it and forget it safe. I would love some Tomato plants and some cabbage yet but... we will see how that goes. Might get some might not.

We designated a 25 x 30 foot space as the garden in the back yard... Going to edge it and then make a smaller one for transplanting maybe... we will see.

So, we went to the farm yesterday, came home, planted garden and then headed here to Tugaske. We have spent way too much time in the car the last few days.... Nice to be here to work. Mind you we were so tired from traveling that we slept in. Then after lunch James didn't feel so hot and the wind was picking up so... didn't get much done today either. I went on my own and put some support tubes on the roofs we built. So now they need tightened and then we can carry on! All good.

Tonight is wing night... sounds kinda busy downstairs, not crazy but busy enough. :) Always good for the Hotel:)

So, off and running sorry no pics again.... Mom, I need a picture of the 2 pair of socks you did get! LOL cuz I have but not finished!! thank ya!

Talk to you all later!

Mom's day, Mother's day, and the day after?

Ok, so here is one of the socks I gave my mom. I know this pic shows it in progress. I am hoping that in my good sense I took a pic of them done and it's on the camera, which is not here, at home but in Tugaske. I also made one other pair, the pair that I hunted for the second ball for! and did find and finish. I have another pair in progress, that I have to finish and take pics of the flaws and send to the company that made the yarn. . . and then carry on from there. So, Mom on her Birthday, which was also Mother's day, from me, received . ..LOL 2 pairs of finished socks, one pair unfinished(one done but not tucked in and the other still on the needles, and are still on the needles .. . LOL) in an unwrapped box, because when I went to the car to get it, it was raining and I had not yet wrapped it. So, unfinished, unwrapped, card in Tugaske LOL she received her gift, sort of! She still loved them. Only my mom ya know? LOL she is looking forward to the ones I have to finish though. Next time I see her she will get them!! LOL And hopefully her card... LOL

The whole thing was that we were not going to the city. We were going to Tugaske to work. As it turned out we spent more time at home to do laundry than expected. And I managed to Talk James into going to the city, because he had some things to pick up, as did I, and that we could grab those and supper at aunti's and be on our way to Tug. Well. We got there late, so, made one of our stops, unsuccessfully. Then went to Aunti's where everyone was feeling fine, had supper. it rained. Everyone went home, we went to mom and dad's to see the sewing desk(Looks awesome dad). Spent the night cuz it was lateish and it was raining and figured it would be raining in Tug too. Then, we did our running in the morning then came home to do some things that were not planned b4.

So, tomorrow we go to Tug to get back to those damn bins(hope that weather co-operates!!). I hope to upload more pictures for you all.

Catchya all again soon, (hopefully with them pics I keep promising!!) LOL

Gardening, Knitting and work

Hey all,
We made a quick trip home to do laundry. So here I am. LOL I am now trying to figure out what to put in the garden. It is of course May 12... course you know that... and the garden should go in around the long weekend... Carrots I know. Beets maybe couple smaller rows. Turnips... might just pass this year(last years is still in the freezer). Peas, then hope to hell I make it back in time to pick um... maybe just a little bit of peas... I would love to do chard and spinach, but will definitely not be around enough to pick them on time. No lettuce or radish. I would like to plant some Kohlrabi ... it's a nice treat. Tomatoes would be nice too... cabbage . . . I tried Leeks last year and they grew not bad, but they were full of spots and such so I didn't eat them... never know so better not to. Same as with my Celery. *shrugs* so I think I will pass on both of them. Any ideas and suggestions? Remember I plant and run so, what gets planted has to be hearty. :P

*yawns* I was up to late last night doing the laundry and dishes, so that we could leave early early should that end up being the plan. James is out at the farm now, course he might be on his way home now too who knows.... Dad was having some trouble with the trucks... OI not getting into it. But James wanted to ask him if it made more sense to stay and put the crop in and then go back to build the bins or what... so we shall see. Makes sense in our eyes, because there isn't a trip up to Outlook with the crane and then home without it, it would be finish and go up with the crane. Less miles the better with the price of gas!!

And, I feel like my knitting has gone to shit. Sorry for the language. I started the Austermann sock like 3 times. I just tore it out again last night as my needles were too big and my stitches too loose so my heel turn looked like lace, and that is nasty!! so I ripped it out and gave up on it for now . .. I love the wool so it will call me back with smaller needles. Also, trying out that Cascade Fixation .. . I think my needles are too small because my ribbing isn't ribbing like it should ... so, bigger needles for it... cast on #3 for it. Ah well. . . So be it!! Maybe I should be changing course and knitting something else ... . for a bit... but I am gonna give these socks another go . .. or two .. . LOL I will get a pair of socks out of that yarn one way er another!! LOL

Anyhow, got breakfast to make and eat for me and then dishes to do again from breakfast .. . . so, I guess I should get my ass in gear . ...

Here is hoping the wind goes away for a few days so we can finish them Bins!!

Later
-Cindy

Was off to Moose Jaw today.

Well, Managed a trip into Moose Jaw today. I had to pick up a ball of yarn at Karen's Button's and Bows! I of course ran out of yarn 10 rows and a toe from finished!!! A friend had sent me the ball and I was certain I could squeeze a small pair of socks out of it! LOL Well, Almost! Now baby socks would have been fine! So, they had the colour I needed, which nobody else had as it is discontinued! So, now I have the ball of yarn!! I can finish the socks! Hooray!!! I think I might do that tonight .. . get them done!! I love the gal in the store today too, she is sooo fun!! So, Sis was with me, and piped up and asked about circulars for the magic loop socks!! Hooray she remembered!!! so Now I have a 2.75mm by 60cm and a 3mm by 60cm to try that method with. Might be handier for traveling as it' s on one circular needle rather than the 4 double points!! 2 Jabbing sharp ends rather than the 8 that come the other way. So, we shall see how I like it! *thinking I can switch the socks I started over!!

*sighs* So, we hunted around for a few other things... needed some drill bits and a drill for work... so picked them up. James needed a new CD player for the truck... his was skipping all nasty!! so picked one of them up. Took my sis for lunch, well I drove, she bought! Thanks again!! and we did some wandering around .. . had something to hunt for and wasn't having much luck.. found it though! so we are all good! *smiles*

Well James is building roofs by himself, I really should head over and help him finish up ... soon as I find my socks and take a trip down the hall :P

Catch you all later!!

In the City.

Hey,
Yeah that horrible windy day I took off to the city. James sat and waited for the wind to stop so he could build the roofs but, It blew and blew. The next day it rained and was still windy. So, James has had some down time while I been in the city. Good thing he packed his game . . .

So I am in the city. I ran out of yarn for mom's socks. I need just a tease more yarn to finish the foot and toe(10R on the foot then the toe decrease). Nasty. I will show you pictures later.

We have been doing the shopping thing while I have been here. We looked in all the Walmart's at the sales rack(Sis likes to haunt them, cuz you get damn good deals on good cloths). We went for lunch(Montana's one day and Joey's the next). Mom said Montana's was our birthday lunch so, Joey's was hers! LOL Damn it was good both days!!

Now, I went to the pet store with Sis, as she wanted to see about rabbit hutches for the indoors, or I suppose they are cages when they are inside. So, here we are in a pet store. They have baby kitties. ... oooh how I would love one .. .. makes a house feel more like a home when you always have someone to come home to, and it's different than a spouse you are coming home with. James even noticed it was really odd to come home without Py telling us about everything that happened while we were away. Anyways, I am there looking at the kittens, beautiful babies .... would have loved to take one home . . but, anyways, I look down the row and there is one of the cages/kennel thing windows that sticks out, and there are these green eyes starring at me. Py like eyes. This calico kitty, in the big cage was starring down the row at me. She was beautiful. Made me miss my Py. So, the lady that I am guessing looks after the kitties, starts talking about this "Mia" calico cat. I nodded politely and told her I had, had a calico. And then I carried on with Sis round the store. :) Nice shop. Seemed to have high prices but, brands and all that play in, so figure I am out of the pet loop right now.

So today I am hoping for a stop at the yarn shop, or 2 .. . gonna dream, dream big eh? LOL

Off and running, Catch you later,

Blowing Like ....

I want to say blowing like hell but, hell burns, not sure if it blows! LOL Seems around here, 30 to 70km winds are the norm. We get more wind here than anything else. Makes putting them bins up . .. . lets say sporadic. As you don't want a 18 foot diameter bin swinging too much. A little bit of the bin waltz is OK . .. but a lot gets to be dangerous. Might take off to the city today. James was asking when I was leaving. Need some things for the weekend . . . and well James builds roofs pretty well on his own, I am not a big fan of building roofs but do them when I need to. . .. Course I really don't mind the 15 foot roofs. Just the 18's I have a hard time reaching. .. my girls . .. if you know what I mean, get in the way of putting in some of them, there bolts. *sighs* so might skip wing night and head into the city . . . still debating. .. think I will call mom. See what she says! LOL Driving in this wind isn't terrible.. . My little car doesn't seem to catch the wind the way a lot of other vehicles do ... go figure. Short and small cars are good for something . .. and gas mileage! With the way gas keeps going up . . . damn good little car of mine . .. ah well, long as she survives these lovely highways huh?
Well off and running,
Catchya laters!

Detour, Detour, then Detour Again!!!

Ok, So, a 3.5 hour trip from Tugaske home isn't the greatest, but, it isn't the worst either. Let's go for the 5 hours it took to go around all the washed out roads. #15 Highway is washed out between #2 and Nokomis. The Lockwood grid(pictures below) is washed out. We did manage across on the Drake Grid. Talk about going further and further north to get around the water . .. that you fear your going to find more and more and maybe should have taken the southern route through Regina in the first place as it would have been quicker some how!
Now, not to be . .. hmm .. . down on Saskatchewan politicians . . . but they spent, obscene amounts of money on the exclamation mark behind Saskatchewan! but THEY DON'T FIX THE BLOODY ROADS!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love Saskatchewan, I think it would be great if people would visit and get excited about Saskatchewan BUT! How do you get excited about a province where the roads wash out continually(#15 washed out last year, does anyone know if it was out the year before too?), why not fix it, put a bridge in . .. something? The roads are a pothole obstacle course! Nasty! Oh yes, #1 is nice, #11 is nice from Regina to Saskatoon, #16(Yellowhead?) is pretty damn good . . . but get off those paths to our other communities, where you find out about the rural people and their lives in Saskatchewan(there are a lot of rural communities!!) and you are traveling some of the worst, pardon my language, Shit, for roads. I would say Gravel is better than most those highways. I say, would because I drive a little fuel efficient car, that does better on pavement than gravel(unless the gravel has not been graded recent, then I am ok). How do you create Tourism with roads of shit? Yes, come see lake Diefenbaker! But look out for that grain truck stuck in the pothole, oh that bump you see is the tarp on his load! Little bit wild and woolly on them roads! Better yet, try to come from Foam lake on 310, rather than going over to #35 south of Wadena to Elfros, which is breaking out in the same places again this year . .. and is working its way to being like #310 from Foam Lake to #5. I would like to say #5 isn't bad, but it has it's places. So, I love the idea of tourism, and making Saskatchewan an exciting place, but I think the travel in Saskatchewan shouldn't be the hair raising experience that causes the excitement! The attractions at the Fair's, the people around, the elk farms, the buffalo farm, the wheat fields, these should be more exciting than the drive to get to the community where the haunted house cart ride with its jolts and spooks, are mundane next to the drive down the highway.

Ok, so now I am done with my rant. I think . .. Let's see . . ..

So, these are pics of the Lockwood grid we tried to get across as, hwy #15 was washed out again. We after taking these pics went up to the Drake grid to get across. It was good, no washouts on it . . Yet.

Coming up on the culverts.
Road looks a little worn and the ditch is running fast! and so is the culvert!!

Its a wonder those fence posts are still standing the way the water was rushing!! Must have been put in well!Culvert is rushing just a bit don't ya think?
They dug out the road to let the water through, this is why the at ditch was running so fast!
See, that's the road we should have been on, but the water needed to get through somewhere before it washed something else out.Culvert from the pasture. James hopped out and into the field to get a pic from that side so you could see it gushing! The water on the other side of the road was damn near to the gravel! You can see how deep the ditch is in the first couple pictures.

So, this is why you can't cross #15 hwy. I think they should put in a bridge there so the water can just flow under it. And this is why Lockwood road is impassable. So far though, Drake grid is good . .. Man that makes it a long trip around! Should make it interesting to say the least for those farmers with land on either side of this . . . creek, river . .. ah hell . .. Lake at Long Lake!!

And then, we get home and there are road closed signs along the highway for grids that I am sure have washed out, or in the process of being so. . .. Maybe we need hover crafts? Would they pass over the water without trouble? Would they be more fuel efficient? Can you imagine . . . My little Toyota took almost $40.00 in gas! I know I know. . . I should be happy it has a small tank! but really!!! I am glad we were in the car not the truck we have to use to haul the bin Crane around!! Glad we have jobs we don't have to travel far to do lots of bins. I feel for the guys out there trying to make it on single bins here and there .. .. and I feel for the Farmer trying to pay those crews to make those miles with trucks and cranes on behind! OUCH expensive!!!

Ok, I don't think I should rant anymore. .. so I won't get too much into the cost of fuel, other than OUCH! *sighs* and good to be home for a day, even if it is only a day.

Tugaske Bins . . . .

Well, We woke to it being a wee bit wet this morning . . . It was raining, and looking like it was going to stick around all day! See all that water? We decided it would be a good day to make the trip home and check for mail and all that good stuff. So that is what we did. The pic's below were taken at about 10am . . . Just before we headed out of town.

Wet, Wet, Wet and very spongy to walk on next to the marsh . . .

Had to put down the crane while we were away, so, up went the roof and it came down with the crane! (only a little ways up!)

James hard labour of roofs while I was in Moose Jaw, Tuesday. The one on the crane in the air we built the night before the rain, after building a bin(from one of James 3 roofs) and putting it on a hopper cone.
Hmm, 5 Rosco's(14ft diameter, 6 rings tall) on hopper cones, One Rosco(14ft, 6 rings) on a wood floor and one Westeel wide core(18 ft diameter, 4 rings) on a hopper cone tucked in the back(really can't see it from this angle). A Rosco has a shorter sidewall sheet than the wide core, therefore the 6 rings on a Rosco is about the same as the 4 Rings on the wide core for height.
So this is what we have been up to. Got these bins up, got the air(rockets installed) on 12 cones. 4 cones still need the air installed . . . but we just got the Rocket's delivered Monday, so, we built bins instead of air. The weather has been nice till today, when it rained!! But, had some laundry to do and mail to pick up, so it's good. Long drive home with all the roads washed out though . . .. (separate posting of pics). We got home . .. hmm . . . 5 hours later . .. usually only a 3.5 hour drive from there but . .. with detours and such . . .(don't ya just love what the Sask gov. is doing about the roads????) anyway, I have another bunch of photos for you! (above)

Back to Saskatchewan . .

mmm nice to be home . . . It felt like a long enough drive to get to Winnipeg, and hubby was driving! Then we had that course to take . .. and If we had never seen the bins before I think it would have been a lot more captivating. As for Hubby and I it was . . . well . . . informative to a degree . . we got to ask questions of the engineers and other persons. As for learning anything . . . I suppose. All said and done, it was an alright trip. We did manage a trip over to The Forks, which . . . could have been skipped. I remembered it being more interesting the first time .. . Hubby didn't have any interest in it. We did see the river up a bit, where I remember there being sidewalk it was river, so we stood on the steps and took a look. So, it was kinda eh. I wanted to go see Ram Wools in Winnipeg . .. but they are only open Mon-Sat 10-5:30. Which I very much think is cool. . .as people shouldn't have to be open Sunday's, but, from the point of arrival late Thurs, the course ran all day Friday, and Saturday by the time we finished there we just wanted to get home. No time for the wool shop that seemed to be up north in the city. . . . :( wish I would have seen it. Oh well .. . maybe next time . .. LOL So, about being happy to be home . . . driving in Winnipeg is interesting to say the least . .. and I suppose it doesn't just fall in the Winnipeg realm. I know you guys are thinking that it was the large busy city that got me... no, that I can handle. It was the lines, or lack there of! You know when you are on a main drag . .. say, Victoria Avenue in Regina, it has a boulevard or at the very least the orange line in the middle of the road that says "hey this is the middle of the road and the other side it oncoming traffic or ditch!" There in Winnipeg, I had to guess . .. or make sure I had seen the street on the map to make sure it was a 2 way or a one way . . .. lots of one ways there too! Anyways, even the highway in Manitoba, #1 highway had white dashes in the middle between us and oncoming in some places and there were places it was the orange but that you were on a hill and could not see what was coming and yet, its still a dash! In Saskatchewan, we get the solid line in the middle when your on a hill! Let me tell ya that makes a hell of a difference when your traveling behind a semi truck and wanna sneak a peak! if it's a solid line you know not to bother .. . dash your checking everywhere . . . crazy . .. and I will give Manitoba credit for their bump flags. . . they are larger, brighter and they flag smaller bumps... ones that our guys would just bypass they had marked .. . nice . .. But I still had trouble with them lines! I guess what they save in painting lines they use for flagging bumps on the highways! LOL

Anyways, Home now, off to Yorkton tomorrow, then through Regina back to Tugaske. Work on Tuesday . . .:)

So, off an running, catch ya's later!

Sunday, April 08, 2007

I know it was early but . . ..

Hey all, I made it to Regina for a yummy Easter dinner with my family!!(Mom's an awesome cook!) Gotta love it! I also handed out the birthday presents I had done up. So, Dad got his package of socks(pictured in March 28 post). Dad Loved them! LOL I told mom if the toe undid on the black pair the first time she washed them to throw them out and dad made such a face as to say "you wouldn't dare!" LOL So, I guess if my fix for the broken yarn doesn't hold I will be fixing them! Also, cuz I was there on Monday, I got to find out that dad can wear the thin sport socks in his work boots!! very cool!! Can make toasty woollies for in his work boots now! HOORAY! mind you they are more work cuz dad likes that crazy long leg!! oh my! LOL

I also gave Sis her new fuzzy shawl! These pics are me wearing it .. . LOL and then there is the pants I gave her with them. I think she was more taken with the pants than the shawl!! But I do know she loves them both!! (her kitty likes the shawl too, soft fuzzy and warm!).

So, I am working on Mom's birthday present and can hopefully finish in time! I HOPE!! and then carry on with something else . . . LOL

We are in Winnipeg, to be certified by Westeel for building their bins. So hopefully will be a good weekend. Will keep you posted as I can access the net while we are here!

Catchya later!

Quick Stop in

Hey all, Just stopped home quick. LOL yes, off to the city tomorrow for Easter supper with the family. Hopefully I can get there on time! LOL We shall see . ..
We have been freezing our butts off. It snowed, it rained, it blew... was cold. Anyways . .. we managed to get legs and support angles, skids and chutes(rollers and such on the bottom to keep them closed when full) on 18 - 18 foot hopper cones, so the cones are done, the 6 - 14 foot hopper cones are skidded(bases put on). We also managed to get 4 of our 6 Westeel - Rosco's done. The pic below has two rings on, we were getting the ladder in the correct spot when this pic was taken. (more will follow later . .. ) This is just a pic of what the marsh on the other side of the trail from the yard we work in is like. This day was cold and the water is very grey and icy. We froze our butts most of the time we were there this week. That wind was nasty! Icy! The sun was warm when we did happen to see it, but the wind was sure to make it colder! So, refuge out of the wind was taken sometimes . .. brrr

I have been working on a little project . . little bits at a time . .. might show you later .. .. it is a gift but its turning out neat, so we shall see.
Talk to you all later!

We haven't left yet . .. .

Well, I just looked at the weather for today. I guess it may be a good thing we didn't travel with the crane today. Lanigan, Wynyard, Foam Lake, Wadena . .. and so on, all under Heavy snow fall warning! Just what we all wanted . . . Just when spring, has started to do it's sprung, Old man winter wants another kick at the cat! That damn Cat should just bite the old bugger!!! (Maybe Py did!). You, Can't see the falling snow all that great, but it is there, giant snowflakes falling like rain!! The snow building up on the ground, the plywood left out to walk on . . instead of the mud and on the truck . .. You can see the lake in the back has grown .. . it is all lake in front of our truck too! Below trying to show you the snowflakes ... not such a great job . . .
Snow is building up on the truck . . . I guess we shall see how much snow we do get!! It just started . ..

We Owe, We Owe, It's off to work we go . ..

Hey, Well, Had a good day today. Did a lot . .. *shrugs* Got up 8:15ish. Took the truck uptown for its Oil Change. Took my walk. Came home did a few rows on the black socks heal flap. Took a short nap(wasn't feeling 100%). Walked up and grabbed the mail(hooray!!) and the truck. Made lunch. Packed some cloths and such. Went to Wadena to get some groceries. Came home, packed some groceries, went and held the ladder over at the shop for James for a bit. Came home, did some tool box cleaning and packing. Swept out the back of the truck. Now I am telling you about it and wondering what to make for supper. . . We are off and running to work . . . will catchya all in a bit. I hope to remember to pack the camera and take some pics for you all, if I get the chance.

In the mail today! I received my books!! Can you believe it! That quick!! Cast's off wasn't in this shipment but will be in the next one . .. at the end of the month!! But I love my books I got today . ..was a wonderful surprise! Did not think they would get here before we took off! So, now I don't know which book to take with me .. . actually I know exactly which books I am taking with me . . . LOL The one skein wonders will stay home as I have my projects for the trip picked ... well, won't get them all done . . but one always hopes to sneak in the knitting everywhere possible right? LOL yeah I know I am knitting addicted. What can I say? Better than other vices out there!

So, will see ya in a bit! Hopefully with pictures and such!
Later!

Beautiful day for a swim .. .

So, we had a beautiful day today! It got up to 13 Celcius here! Not like Regina(supposed to get to 20 Celcius!), but it was nice. . .
We have a lake growing in our back yard. This is normal though . .. James hoped that pushing the snow might help, but there is nowhere we can push it that it will run off and not back. So, we have our spring lake! How do you like it? LOL
I went for a walk, that was nice. Beautiful weather. Out in my denim jacket and ball cap! sweet deal! I met a lady a long the way that was very very happy that spring was here! She agrees this winter seemed nasty, because if the temp. was nice it was a blizzard of snow. If it wasn't snowing it was bitter cold and you didn't want to do anything!! So, Spring has sprung and as much as I hate the mud, I am happy to see it! LOL
Had a good walk, made a pair of jammie pants today. I can't show them to you, they are for a Christmas present! Yes, I make myself sick . .. LOL Because I am sooo looking forward to summer!
Ah well, I should run. Talk to you later.

Striped bag that I am . ..

OK, here is the bag. The lion brand pattern bag . .. worked up in Red Heart yarn. Black and tweed. Yes that is supposed to be a tweed. The bag, I had hoped would be large enough for a purse .. . it is not. Well maybe for someone who carries less stuff. But I carry a lot of stuff so, it's small for me. It is about 9 inches long and 7 inches deep. Nice pattern, nice bag. . . just not enough room for me .. ah well .. .

Anyways, Today, I finished that bag. James and I had some unexpected company. James cousin stopped in. Was a nice surprise. Good to see him. Anyways, we were off to Yorkton after. We returned some insulation. Then, forgot the eves trough . .. I though James had changed his mind, apparently he was having a distracted moment and forgot. Ah, we all have those. . . Then off to Walmart to get mouthwash. Yes, I had a hard time again remembering what the heck green we use of the Listerine. .. Kinda like to ask Listerine why they don't just make them all green that way we could never ever even have an incling of a clue what flavour we got last. So, I bought one of each of the 2 greens. Get home, the one with fluoride that I didn't buy, is what we had before. . hmm go figure . .. LOL anyhow, On from walmart off to Yorkton Concrete. Picked up the last of our patio blocks from the auction . .. let me tell ya . . . oh sh*t that's a lot of weight for our poor old truck . .. well not that old but old enough .. . 10 this year. They did get the load in better this time so . . . the truck road much better than the last round .. course we had less in the box ... James took the pails out .. . LOL we didn't expect that many blocks from the auction. It had stated 20 blocks .. . what it was was 200 sq ft. of blocks. which is 40 blocks .. . 20 per palette(we took one pallete last time and one this time) Each block weighing in at 110 lbs. I couldn't lift them .. . too awkward, thought I would drop it . . so ... James my hunny, unloaded them . .. the first load and this second one now . .now to wait until the ground is defrosted and we can make a nice base to put them out where we want them . .. ooh they will be nice around the added on part ... (will post pics tomorrow).

*sighs* so, I am off to bed. Will catchya's later!

Very cool . ..

Hey, Today, In the mail! I got my chapters/indigo gift cards. I ordered them with my lovely air miles! I saved enough miles to get 3 gift cards. So, I spent one and a bit on me(will tell you in a minute what I ordered) and I am giving one to my mom, now she can pass it on or use it for herself .. . up to her but she has helped me collect air miles!! wooo whooo!! and I believe she should lay claim to one card. So, its in my wallet ready for her next time I see her! (tempted to mail it but I know she isn't impatient like me!! LOL). So, I ordered . .. LOL Casts off . . .because Stephanie was showing off the book on her Yarn Harlot blog and making me drool!! I also ordered the At Knits End, and Secret Life of a Knitter(this may sound a little obsessive . .. but I love how she writes . .. I had a hard time putting down her Knitting Rules book, and I giggled and down right, out right, Laughed my ass off through it too!!). I ordered One Skein Wonders, as I go to the Chapters in Regina and drool on their copies so much I should just get the damn thing! LOL So, I ordered my books! I tried to see if James wanted anything but what he wanted was not yet available, so .. . I guess the remainder of the gift card . .. will be on whatever tickles us next! Very fun!!

So, this morning, I went for my walk. . .It was beautiful outside!! I picked up a pound of nails for James at the Co-op and the mail on my way around .. . as that is the route. . . walk the long part then grab the mail and home! Love my trek. Anyways, came home helped James outside a little .. . came in .. . made a nice turkey mmmm wrap for lunch . .. could have used more sauce but . .. better for us with less! it was good though .. .

I am drawing neared the finish of the bag . .. now, the black sock is waiting . .. and I am making a bag . . . hmmm .. .says something about the black sock? er maybe just something about me! LOL

OK, I have been fighting with this idea for a long time . .. One way it's good other not so good . .. I am going to post a wish list. Now, I know a lot of people think that is a bad thing, but ask my mom!!! This is a good thing . .. So, I am going to post it for those whom need it, those who don't need it . .. don't need to read it or look at it or whatever .. . but It will be there . .. for those who are always asking what I might want for ______ . You know. So, that's it.

That's all for now! Hope your all having a lovely day!! enjoying that lovely weather!! the wind is a little chilly but good otherwise!

A slow start to a good day . ..

Hey all! Thought I would toss in a new pic of the crazy blooming Christmas Cactus! Yes, I took this picture today, and this is one of the 2 blooms that survived the transplant. Still blooming strong. Go Figure! Today in the mail I got this lovely package! 4 balls of beautiful soft yummy yarn, and 2 sets of tags! It was a small tool swap we did in on of my groups . . .

I love the tags! They are always fun! mmmm and see yummmy yarn!!!
Soft and lovely yarn!! I love it!!
So, slow start because we just kinda rolled out of bed. Neither of us slept well. I got up, had breakfast. Then I wandered into the sewing room .. . well crafting room I guess . .. maybe . . and continued tracing that pattern. I finished tracing it. Cut out 2 pairs of pants. Sewed one pair of pants up(sorry can't show you a pic, its a gift!). After though. Had some lunch, did up the waist on the pants(pj pants so, threaded the elastic through and sewed up the hole). Then I was off to Wadena. I had those nails to return. The ones I made the trip to Wadena special for .. . LOL always seems to work that way you know .. . go for one thing your gonna end up taking that one thing back!! LOL Must be a Murphy's Law that covers that somewhere . . . but we are protesting that aren't we? hmmm .. . anyways, made that trip, traded the nails for a paintbrush. Yes, the paintbrush was $10.49 before tax! one brush, real bristle, as that is what the stain calls for! and the Nails were $16 something . . . so I got a whole 4 something back .. . I had a lot more nails then paintbrush let me tell ya. LOL. I also grabbed some paint swatches for the new room ... James told me it will be a long time before I need them, which is fine but I would like to have an idea what colour I want before we go to buy it. I was thinking something tan with a touch of red to it, but now I am thinking more creamy as my tan like swatches didn't POP for me. So, then I went to SArcan and got rid of the bottles I had. Few bucks back in the pocket there. Always like that. ooh and I went to the grocery store. I wanted that earl grey tea! Yeah I know could have lived with out it but, more fun to live with it. Also bought some veggies there too . . . came home, inhaled a piece of jerky! LOL I was hungry .. . ooh and thirsty ... in fact I could go for a drink o something. hmm .. . water. Anyways, got home put the groceries away, took the above pictures, went for a walk and now I am sitting here. waiting for James to come tell me he needs a hand. I was going to start supper but don't want to start it and end up forgetting something or burning it when James needs a hand so will make supper in a bit.
So was a good day! Oooh and you know, I think Sears is going off the deep end. I have received 2 catalogues, not one, 2! this week and it is only Weds. I always thought it was every second week we got one . . LOL James said every week . ..LOL now we have to both change to twice a week . .. whats that saying? anyways ... more for the recycle. . . mind you there were some beautiful clogs in there that came in extra wide so I might actually get my tall fat foot in them but they still wanted $103. on sale!!! But they were cute. And I will leave it at that!!
So off and running! Catchya's all again soon!

Quiet and Uneventful, but I can ramble on with the best of um!!

Well, Quiet and uneventful today. You know that isn't so bad. I been working on my Lion Brand bag - Its the striped self lined bag. They want it made from Lion Cashmere . .. I am using Red Heart. I imagine the cashmere would be beautiful, absolutely beautiful but . . . I could never find the yarn and If I did I would probably have had to cut my right arm off for it . .. so Red heart to the rescue in plain old acrylic, Which will wear like a damn . .. It's looking good. The bag that is, all black and tweed stripe all though I am disappointed that my tweed didn't show through as well as I thought it would. Looks like black and natural or cream, which isn't the end of the world either .. . LOL we will see what happens when its done.

We did dishes last night. James an I, What I didn't tell you is that the damn dishwasher(I have some choice words for it but not appropriate here and maybe not all its fault but the water here in towns) didn't wash the load of dishes that it was supposed to. So I really didn't do all the dishes .. . I did all the ones that don't go in the dishwasher, the pots, pans, flippers and all that stuff .. . special mugs you know .. . the stuff that doesn't go in the dishwasher then I left .. . Not realizing I had started the dishwasher, stopped it, then forgot to start it again! So, James ran the damn thing when he got home and it didn't wash like it should have . .. probably because it had a spray of our lovely town water before it got to washing and had time to dry on the dishes(safe to drink my ass). Anyways we wont get into the water issue because I get nasty about it. James an I did all those nasty dishes together. And you know, doing dishes together is sooo much nicer .. . only takes half the time. Much nicer anyways . ..

James was working outside today and was cutting stuff for the doorways in the new space so . .. I did the dishes alone but, really prefer to have the company .. . LOL

I traced or started tracing the pant pattern my mom asked for too. I need to trace another pattern too as I have used it SO much that it is wearing out!! Anybody else used a pattern til you thought it might just disintegrate in your fingers next use? OI!! Anyways, the Dollar Giant had tracing paper for a buck so I got some . . Mom got some too! it was a lot of sheets for that buck so, we figured it a good deal. Not so bad to trace patterns for the lovely hard to fits in the family that way. Like our skinny guys that are miles tall and so on .. . When I alter a pattern that I know I am going to use a lot I just trace it the way I altered it then Name it for that person . .. LOL and make notes in my project notebook. Yeah I keep a project notebook, more because I am curious as to how many pairs of socks and ponchos and sewn vests and sewn pants I can turn out in a year .. . I know I could turn more out .. . but there is this thing called work one has to do to pay bills and support ones fabric and yarn addictions. I wonder, would I be spending more on cigarettes if I was a smoker? I truly believe my yarn and fabric is far better for me than that stuff . .. or many other vices people have for that matter.

I just need to figure out how to get a damn good walk with a Walkman going and a sock in had or something. ROTFLMAO wouldn't that be the life. Couldn't do it now! I went for a walk today, I am trying for everyday but, sometimes everyday doesn't happen . . . So, the gravel road is pretty good, except for a couple soft soupy spots, but the paved road into town is still icy slushy slip around all over the place!! Hard to walk good when your sliding all over the place!! so, ultimately would be great to be able to walk completely on the gravel . . . because its not icy but then I can't get the mail uptown . . . so, I make the trip around and go through the icy stuff, so I can walk by the mail and pick it up.

I put a poster up for the Saskcrafters group on the community bulletin board but the damn thing blew around and lost all the pull off tabs with the address on it. So am working on how I can better that, so it stands up to the wind. I have an idea but . .. we will see how it works out..

I need to print out the WynyardBuySellTrade flyer too and put it up .. . Hopefully tomorrow!!

Anyways . .. think I have rambled on long enough. I should go and brush, floss and rinse. Then maybe finish tracing that pant pattern. I guess we shall see .. .

So, Good night all!

OOOH I forgot to tell you all! I tried London Fog at home, with Vanilla Nut tea .. . eeeww yuck!! It wasn't the worst but it wasn't that good. The milk carried the tea . .. sad. The tea wasn't strong enough, and I didn't have any Earl Gray. Next time it will be regular tea. As the tea needs a good strong flavour! I also made it with brown sugar(2 rounded tsp), which was yummy and vanilla extract(1tsp overflowed, as one alone was not quite strong enough when we made it at Mom's), because I had no Vanilla Syrup. It worked, except not enough tea flavour!

Goodnight again! LOL

Good Eve

Hey all,
I forgot to tell you! While in the city, Mom, Auntie and I, tried out London Fog ~ the drink. I love it! Mom likes it . .. auntie likes it. I gave some to my sis though and she made quite the face! Think cuz it was getting to be cold by then .. . LOL Anyways. .. had one at this neat coffee shop on, Broad and .. . hmm .. . 15Th? South of College anyways . .. that was a damn nice London fog. Had one from Starbucks in the Chapters at south land .. . that was the one we drank on the way to moose jaw. MM yum .. . then we made one at home after I looked up the directions to make um .. . :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Fog_%28beverage%29

So, that was exciting...

Now today. I went for a walk. I posted a sign up about the Saskcrafters group on the bulletin board in front of the post office ... Hope it doesn't blow away and that maybe someone shows some interest in it. :) would like to build the group up and get some more conversation going and such :) I walked the long way . . good for me!! I did some laundry . .. wooo whoo exciting eh? My dishes still sit piled high(I am protesting as when I left for the city I did up all the dishes even though I was madder then a hatter, so all he had to deal with was his own mess). So I haven't touched them. James my sweetheart has cooked supper last night and tonight :D .

On one great note! I finished my hidden Item Last night. Sorry can't show pics yet. I have finished one of the black socks. Yes one. I have cast on the second and have 11 of the 80 leg rows done on it. So 69 rows til the heal flap!!! LOL I also cast on the Lion Brand bag I wanted to make . .. I have started knitting it too. . . should be neat when its done . ..

So that was today's excitement.

Well, off and running!
Catchya later,
-Cindy

Home, Plants and Such

Well, here for you is a bright and cheery picture! LOL I love the new space! I do think mind you that the insulation really has to go!!! LOL It's taking up space, and right now as I type . .. James is working on that. My Christmas Cactus is still blooming! I can not believe it!!
I transplanted the little devil while it had buds. I thought sure as hell I would loose all the blooms coming. Apparently not. I guess my cactus likes it's new pot. .. even though its a bit big for it!! I think the cactus will be very happy to grow into it!! Bloom 1 above, bloom 2 below!
My Cactus in full, in her new pot! I think she might like it!!
Some Lemon Basil I planted in a mug my aunti gave me . .. She didn't intend them as plant pots but I just thought since they looked like plant pots and looked to be the right size for herbs . .. maybe that is what I should use them for . .. as I have plenty of mugs at home . .. for drinking out of!! I think my Lemon basil will be very neat!! I also planted chives which are just peeping up, and Catnip which is just behind the basil and . . . oregano. James asked why I planted catnip .. .I told him just because!! LOL
So, I'm home. I am itching to go for a walk. I missed a walk yesterday .. . must go today . .. should almost go twice. Its windy, but -4c is still nice . .. didn't check the wind chill though . . and I don't think I will .. . . I will just dress and go!
I am dying to hear from my mom how she is doing with her new sewing machine. .. she got a beauty!! I bet she is too busy having fun with it to be here reading! LOL
I need to do dishes and laundry. My laundry . . . James did his and one or two pieces of mine that he figured would go with his load. I need to do the rest of mine. Get ready to go off to work next week . . .
We are also going to go to be certified bin builders by Westeel in April. That should prove interesting. A trip to Winnipeg, very cool . . .so we shall see how that goes . .. Will have to do some research.. . see if there is any where's I would like to go . .. Should be a good little get away.
So, that's it for now . . . talk to you all later ,

My Favortie Doormat!

Hey, I guess my funk lasted longer than expected. Yesterday was a terrible one too . .. I just felt like crap all day. Today, though I feel better. Man those feelings can wear a person out . . . Though I did walk the long way to the post office, and walked the gravel stretch twice. I was feeling sorry for myself and feeling fat and ugly and all that nastiness . .. I hate when that creeps in. My emotional side tells me to "lay down till the feeling passes" or "eat chocolate", though these rarely work! And only add to the problem at hand. I had laid down on the bed, but James came in and wanted to know what the he** was going on. I couldn't put it into words so he got pissed off, and packed up for the farm and took off. I went for a walk. My logical side said "if you feel fat then do something, go walk til you don't feel that way anymore!" Hence walking the gravel stretch twice, the first time, I still felt bad so walked it again then I felt like I had done something. LOL probably a whole 2 miles of walking, which in the grand scheme isn't that much but its more than nothing!! And sure feels better then nothing!! Ah well, feeling better today. Should get out and walk again. I think I might shave my head down too . . . time for a cut. It's wild and woolly and it seems when I do pay someone $25.00 they have no clue how to cut it, if I go and spend $40.00 then I get a cut I feel good with that lasts .. . 6 weeks . . so think I might just go back to buzzing it . ..

Anyways, James is off to the farm to tin roofs with dad. I'm here at home . .. think I will work on some knitting. Maybe even transplant my Christmas cactus . .. I got a bigger pot for it, just haven't moved it over as it was blooming . . well it has buds now but, I am thinking I may be willing to take the chance to transplant it. I also may plant some herbs. We will see ...

I had this doormat emailed to me(caution it may be offensive to some viewers!). I don't know the origin. I love it! LOL Anybody know where I can get one?

Ever had one of those days?

Well if you have had one of those days, you know what I am talking about. One of those, In a funk days. I had one of them yesterday. I just woke up feeling out of sorts. James after being up a short time, knew I was in a funk. He in fact came into the living room and gave me a hug and told me I didn't have to go it alone, he's there for me. I know he is, but I didn't know what kinda funk I had stumbled on. I was missing my grandma, my grandpa, my cat. So James and I did some snuggling. I love just snuggling up. Made me feel better. Then I ran to Wadena for the afternoon . .. had a couple things to do that took much longer than intended. When I got home James was ready to nail in our window to the extension. Makes it very bright in there . .. maybe will take a picture when we get it cleaned up some . . .stuff all over the floor and you know . .. so, you have to wait! Then after supper, I worked on my Purse, which you see pictures of on yesterdays post.

And today, I went to the dentist! Yes, Part 2 of a much needed, much neglected cleaning! My teeth are sore again. But, they are clean! I really like that dental office in Melville. Then we ran through Yorkton on the way back to grab a couple things. . . When I got home to check the mail. I received my Small Tool Swap! Lois sent me great stuff! I love the sock shaped point protectors. The crochet hook cushion will come in handy on the next big crochet project! and under them is a neat card I can pass along :) The one standing is the one she sent to me! Very cool!

So, these were a nice surprise after yesterday's funk. And today's disappointment with the purse . . . just need to alter it a little .. . I know exactly what I wanna do to it! so its good :)

So that is today's excitement . .. I have a birthday card to write and address and find something neat to send with . .. then I might be off to bed .. we will see!

Talk to you later,

-Cindy

TaDA! A new purse!

Hey, I made myself a new purse. I was tired of the last one I made always falling open. I know I could have found a way to fix it ... If the straps hadn't been so long and the bag so wide . .. I know this one is also very boring next to the last one, No fancy stitching on it .. . I just didn't feel like putting any on. I made the I-cord for the handles. Very easy . . . We shall see how it holds up though(my purse is heavy like a brick). Tomorrow will be the true test, try it out in public. James said it looked alright and as long as it did what I wanted then it was good. Which is true. I kinda miss the fancy stitches . .. Though I love the basic look of it too . . . Will look even better once it is worn in .. . which is good :) Well that was today's feet, well and yesterday afternoon . .. after the curtain for the bathroom, which I am sorry I couldn't get a pic of cuz the bathroom is just too small . .. LOL yes, can't get a good picture of that corner. Off to the dentist tomorrow, for a cleaning . .. OI. Ahh well . .. enjoy the pics. I am off to bed . . . Gnight all!

Will it ever stop?

Guess what I woke up to today? James got out of bed at about 7am. I figure he took off for Preeceville. Said something about borrowing Rob's floor Jacks for 5 minutes, to get a better look at something. And from the SNOW that I woke up to today he is probably pushing the tire shop's snow, should it have any, as it is a bit further North. I tried to catch a picture of the snowflakes for you . . . . but the camera didn't catch um! But here is what I took anyways!James would have swept the car off. He left at 7(i think), I took the pic at about 9 . . . 2 hrs.

I'm soooo bad . . ..

Well, I couldn't wait. I was having visions of this quilt sitting on my sewing machine when I got home from a season of bin building(fall), So . . . I knew where to find the pattern . . shame on me, and I went to work. I have done all but the ties to quilt it.

James and I agree that I should have done it all in the rocking horses, or all in the bears. The bears I would have added some yellow to. Ah well. I can live with it where its at till everyone else catches up :D Bad Bad girlie that I am . ..

Now I can sew something else and feel better about it. Don't ask me why! LOL

Talk to ya all later!
