Got Snow?
Wednesday, February 28, 2007
Knitting Bag and Knitting basket.
So, made the trip to Yorkton today. All was well. The horrible amounts of snow they are talking have not started to accumulate yet today. 10 to 15cm, which is like 4 to 6 inches this afternoon and this eve. So might be lots of snow to wake up to tomorrow!
Anyways, I have been pondering this knitting bag and knitting basket thing. I know I should just do it, but I keep thinking I want to plan it so I am not looking for that pocket to stuff . . . this item in or that one . . you know? So, I know I want a main compartment for the project, then one slim one for the pattern in use. Snips pocket would be dandy, a knit strip for sticking yarn needles in would be helpful. Have any of you got some Idea's to help? Just want to do it right you know? LOL
Thank you,

Work Work . . . Work
Talk to you later,

Busy Busy
Got up today, got ready. We went into Yorkton - James had an appointment at 10am, which means getting up and out of the house by 8:30. Now this isn't bad if your a morning person. And Previously I have been, just not lately(if lately qualifies for like the past couple years). Maybe its marriage and being able to be in bed snuggled up and setting our own work hours so if we sleep til 7:30 instead of being out to work by then, then its only us who has to work later to cover our asses . . . maybe work through coffee breaks which I think tend to be a waste in what we do anyways . . LOL. . so I have lost my morning person, though my body is trying desperately to find her. My body says when the alarm goes off at 7 am to get the heck up, sometimes I listen and other times I don't. When I do, sometimes i get something done, when I don't my body grumps and groans at me all day for staying in that bed too long . . maybe I am just feeling my age? Is that normal for 30? hmm I wonder.
Anyways we got up, ran off to Yorkton, had the appointment at 10am. Hit a couple stores for a couple things we needed. Got out of Yorkton by noonish. Got home around 2pm ish maybe later. We did stop in Canora for a couple peeks around .. . you know that I am out of the house we are passing through, lets take a peek. Ah well. we peeked and got home round then, grabbed the mail on the way past the post office. Watched some crap on TV, watched Oprah while knitting watched Dr.Phil while knitting . . . then laid down for a nap. Woke up to watch the Class. Had some supper James cooked. Then cuddled up and watched some Joan of Arcadia's season one. Now James is doing books, I wrote an email to my mom and a few others. Now I am sitting here. What a day. Feel like I did nothing. ooh wait I did dishes . .. and I emptied the dishwasher, which consists of washing things again (hard water or something). So I guess i accomplished something.
I have sewing to do though. I want to make a curtain for the bathroom(to cover the extra toilet paper and Kleenex and such). I want to recover the knitting basket(though am struggling with that as it was Great gram ma's knitting basket, an really needs recovered but is how granny always had it. . . so is hard to change it, though I think she would understand?). I want to sew a new purse. I need to knit a wig, yes knit a wig for a friend(costume type). I want to make a knitting bag so that I can take it rather than the giant basket on car trips. I have sewing I can start for next Christmas, lots of it. I have a quilt I am waiting for the remainder of the instructions for so I can sew it. and the list goes on and on and on .. . I have mom's(may) bday present to make . .. I am working on dad's yet (April). I have Wendy's to make(May, before mom's by a week). So I have lots to do . .. and am lacking the ambitions beyond the one thing I am working on mind you that is one of the above listed. and Dad's is almost done except the stuff on the needles . . .which will get done eventually.
Have I rambled on and bored you to death? I hope not. I did look at some yarn today in Zeller's they had the mill ends in .. .and had nothing good. It was disappointing. Even Walmart in Yorkton sucks for mill ends. ah well .. . use what I got right? RIGHT!!!
So, before we left this morn, we also had the great debate(because of the weather), if we should take the car or the truck to Yorkton. There was blowing snow, snow pack, icy patches, falling snow . .. we took the car. LOL the car, is more fuel efficient, if you hit the ditch its easier to push. Mind you the truck has 4 wheel drive . . . so if you hit the ditch, but the extra cost of the fuel hurts. So we took the car.
Oh well, now I think I must have bored you all to death? Have I? ah well. I am off and running .. . think I might do some knitting yet . ..
Catch you later,
-Cindy
BTW- the Nephew liked his t-shirt, the blue one.

Home from the city, and look at the fun!
And it is sooo pretty when I started to work it up! I couldn't wait to see what it would look like so here I am in the city with my sets of Double points(for non-knitters, shorter double ended needles intended for knitting in the round, like socks). So I took my point protectors that a gal gave me in a previous swap and stuck them one on each of two Double points, to give me two very short needles to play with. But I absolutely love it!
I had a good visit in the city. I didn't pick up my niece as expected but I did get to see both my sisters and my nephew's and got to spend some good time with my mom. So, It was all good.
Anyways, tired, and itching to get at that beautiful yarn again . . . I have some black socks on the needles but . . .they aren't as fun as this stuff right now! LOL
So talk to you later . . .

Socks, Socks, Socks
Yeah, here be another pair of sockies! Nice Navy Acrylic socks. They are nice and soft and I hope they will be loved. . ..WAIT I know they will be loved. This is pair #2 for Dad's birthday package. :) Dad would wear neon green ones if I made them for him . . . LOL I only know this because I bought a beautiful red wool and am going to make socks for me with them and Dad said he would wear socks out of that. Then mom called him on it and said you don't like that color! Dad said he would wear the socks if I made them for him out of that color! LOL He isn't getting my red sock wool! LOL he might get heels and toes out of it . . . but not the red socks! LOL I know I know foolishness.. . but it is so fun to know that what I make is loved so much.
I made a sweater for my nephew, remember that one? The Gray Ragg, with red and grey trim? Well, the nephew liked it, his family loved it. Now I am caught in the debate, should I or should I not make one for his older brother? What do you think? Dad says yes, Hubby says maybe, mom says she isn't sure. I am going to ask his mom . ..maybe even ask him. Don't want him feeling left out because his brother got a home made sweater and he didn't. He isn't that kinda kid but still don't want to be the root of a feeling like that.. . so will have to do my searching out and find out! LOL
As for sewing . . well it got put on hold. We rearranged the living room. I like it better. Think we will have lots more natural light! HOORAY!! and it looks and feels less crowded. .. mind you we now have to find homes for certain things like the vacuum that has no closet and such but. It will happen. YOU know how it is? Well you do if you live in a tiny space and have too much stuff you can't part with because you use it all .. . or you have family and sentimental attachment to it. *sighs*
Well, its late, I am cold. So, goodnight!
Talk to you all soon!

Bathroom Curtains
T-shirt,Curtain and Crazy Christmas Cactus
You would think it is Christmas. That crazy Christmas Cactus has a bloom coming. Maybe it's just happy . ... then again maybe its trying to make me happy, or it heard I had started next years Christmas sewing(well not yet just done washing the fabric) and it figured it should get busy too? Ah well. So yesterday I made the shirt for my nephew(pic below).
And today I made the curtain to cover our personal crap in the bathroom. I know its not perfect but it currently does the trick, I need to put a rod in the bottom of it, at least so far that is the plan. I am going to make a curtain for the window too, just haven't got there yet .. .. LOL soon . .. maybe yet this afternoon . . .Ah well, off an running catch ya's later.

The Bat Pants
These are the pants that hubby picked the fabric for. They are a super cool print . . . I never guessed he would pick something like these but he did. They look awesome! They fit him really nice too! :) course that's my work .. . LOL. So this was tonight's work, along with the serging of all the fabrics I bought in the city the last 3 er so trips, the washing of said fabric(not all of it, I bought for Christmas this year!). I cast on a sock and got a few rounds on the cuff. I think that is all I did, except cut out and sew these pants and chat online and check emails. LOL nobody was neglected! LOL least I hope not. Hubby was playin his game! LOL so he wasnt neglected!
Well catchya later I got stuff to do yet . . .

Home from the City . . .
Hubby and I made a trip to the city. We had a visit with my mom and dad. Did a bit of shopping. You know all the good stuff right. So, in my shopping travels I bought a serger, its a neat one that sets it's tensions automatically. I bought it with part of my inheritance . .. because I know my grandma would approve . . . As I will use it tonnes! I also bought a ball winder and swift(hubby decided I needed the swift too).
Then, My Auntie(Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!) snaffled a good load of yarn for me. From what I hear from my sources(did not get to see auntie in my travel to the city), a girl at work was asking for someone who could put good use to some yarn. Auntie piped up and said "My Niece can!" and here below is the amazing amount of yarn she snaffled from this wonderful chain of events!
The box of yarn, Hubby and I wound it already(yes I said hubby and I)
This was the afghan kit. It came from Mary Maxim, many years ago. It will not be made into the afghan it was supposed to.
This is the rest of the balls of yarn. Now one of these is a black ball that should be with the affie kit. Ah well . . . Lots of browns and neutrals . .. I will put them to good use . . . I just have to figure out, by making what! LOL
Mom would like a pair of socks that are either orange with black heel and toe or black with orange heel and toe. I think I will make them black with orange heel and toe, then the hard part of the sock that you have to actually see would be the bright orange, not that nasty black .. .I also picked up some fabric for some projects around the house and for gifts. You will have to wait to see them finished though. You know how it is .. . LOL
So, what else can I tell you? hm m m that I have been working on finding my room again. I have been winding yarn into neat little balls. OOH how fun I love it, except for the tangle parts, but we all hate that, and better when I am winding the ball than when it is attached to my needles!
I have to dig in my fabric for a few things too . . . I know I have some fabric my sis might like and then I can make her something . . . OK, OK now I must be getting boring! LOL
Wait! We went to an auction yesterday. I bought some "Seams Incredible" Knitting needles. Now I need a book or some instruction on them . . . anybody have any idea's? They are like huge double pointed needles! So if anyone can help, please let me know! LOL
Talk to you all soon,

The Slippers (frm Hell) are done!!!!!!!
Yes! I have finished the slippers from Hell! I am glad to be done! Although, when you have that kinda journey with a project, it makes a challenge for picking the next pattern. I am kind of reluctant to try another new pattern right now . .. LOL .. . but it is a very quick crochet one I want to do so, I am going to do it anyways! So, Enjoy these ones. I may never make another pair like them. Though I like a good challenge . .. so maybe I will, as now I know about what the cast on should look like and really from there it's child's-play!
And the Dickie's. These are the 2 I made for Hubby. The blue one he has worn and worn and worn, therefore I have washed and washed and washed it. And it still looks good, who would have thought!
The black one, who is not photogenic is new. LOL not that you can see the stitches or anything fun like that but, it is new. Unworn. Awaiting its first trip out! LOL One of these lovely winter days it will get to go out!
Yesterday it snowed, blowed, and now it is snowing again. I don't see the blowing as bad this morning. Ah well, nowhere really to go today anyways .. . so, will stay in where its warm.

Crazy Right?
Sunday, I had one hell of a day. We started trying to clean house a bit. Well, I was doing something and it pissed me off(think I was emotionally off anyways). Then cleaned out my closet. Things flew outta there . . . well some things. You know how it is. There are the cloths that I am willing to part with and the cloths that we have to keep in case we shrink into them because we love them SO much. Anyways, while cleaning said closet, there were shirts in there that my gramma gave me for my birthday, so my eyes got a little weepy. The shirts still fit and everything. Just the thought of missing my gramma. So, I am cleaning the whole closet out. Even the dress cloths I have kept for 2 years that don't fit and I have no where to wear them anyways(wouldn't people think I flipped my lid building bins in a blouse?). So between the cloths I wear all the time, and the cloths that don't fit hangs . . . the wedding dress. I know most people look at their wedding dresses with fond memories. .. and don't get me wrong so do I. I still love the dress and love the man I married in the dress and Love the day we got married on, and find something to love about everyday. I just yesterday, cried, all out on the bed cried. I miss my gramma. She was with me when I picked out the dress. I remember telling my mom we were just going to look, YEAH RIGHT! We get there and try on a bunch of dresses, Tried on the one, Grandma said "If I was to design a dress for you, that would be it" And the damn thing was on the sale rack. NO more of them. I called to ask my mom if she would be hurt if I bought the dress. . . NO Answer! . .. So I called to see what my sis thought. . (i don't remember if she answered). . . I called my auntie to see what she thought and if she knew where my mom would be. Auntie thought I should buy the dress with grandma because If it truly was the dress and we went home then came back another day for it and it was gone . .. mom would be more upset. So, Grandma and I bought the dress.(Had to have tea down the street to talk myself into buying it without mom!) I am SO very glad I have that memory with gramma. I was very lucky to have her with me. I was lucky to have her as a gramma.
So, cleaned out the closet. We went to Yorkton for groceries. Came home. Today we had to do some stuff in Wadena. We did some cleaning around the house. Some things are looking better. I am still trying to simplify. Amalgamated my emails to one. Instead of 2! Around the house I am trying to reduce clutter but it is a challenge. I will do it though, even if I have to do little bits at a time. . .. Anybody need a toaster? Vertical Grill? hm mm how bout a small crock pot?
LOL
Well I am off and running!
Goodnight!

Slippers
Hello, Yes see, this is what the slipper looks like. Well, It is far from done but you know what I mean. This is the start. This is what the pattern is turning out like. I have a few more rows on the slipper but not many as I have been away from home and all over the place and have not been taking my knitting on the grounds of having to drive part of the way. So, Now you see what the slippers are starting out like. I hope they turn out as I would like to call them Slippers from Hell. I think they are turning out beautiful. I hope they are. I like the colors and how thick they feel. ah well, nuff said bout slippers. I am off to bed.
Goodnight!
Time Flies
So, once again I have a cat in my arms and a mom IM'ing me so Off I go to chat with mom!

I started a group . ..
I started a group. I started the group SaskCrafters. I posted the link to the home page so click the title of this post it will take you there(or the button along the side). I felt like I needed to add a group for people closer to me that love to craft. Whatever their craft or talent may be. So if you live in Saskatchewan and you craft, come on into the group!
As for what I have been up to . . . well . . those slippers I started are still on the needles in the knitting basket. I tried to take pictures of the Dickie I knit for hubby, but it was black and the thing just looked like a black splotch, so will try again when I have good light!
And what I mean about having light is maybe actually being home? hm there is a concept. I came home from the city Tues. We went to Yorkton/Melville on Weds. Today we went to Melfort for tin for the roof of what Dad's doing and the walls of the addition here. All were all day trips!
Any who, I have some chatting going on and a kitty (Pyrat) laying on my arms, wanting to be snuggled so better give in!
Talk to you all later!

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.
Take the http://www.tomorrowland.us/sportscar"> Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.
Notice there are no imports . . . . I was wondering if I was a Toyota, only sportier than the one I drive!

Have I left the city yet?
I enjoy my time with my mom. I know, I am all grown up but there is something about getting to spend some time with mummy! LOL Mom and I have always got along great. I trimmed her beautiful long hair today, then braided it and headed out shopping. Yes shopping, we get into lots of trouble together. LOL yes I said trouble. I told my hubby I wasn't bringing home any more yarn till I used up some of my stash, He is going to roll on the floor laughing. He laughed when I told him that! So now he will really laugh! I got some yarn for my mom for a poncho, I am making it for either her birthday or Christmas next year. We will see how the time pans out . .. So I got a giant ball of the red heart comfort in denim blue, then got a fun fuzzy blue mix to trim with. When I finish it, You know you will see it . .. . after the date of course . .. don't want mom peeking and seeing what she shouldn't you know! I also bought 2 balls of bernat handicrafter cotton(the big ones) that were baby colors and had baby booties and bib patterns on them. They were at Wal-Mart. So there I was bad! LOL I do want to make some baby stuff though so, not so bad. Today we went to the book store, I found a knitting book in the bargain book that had a few nice sweaters in it. Drooled on the One Skein Wonders book. It looks like a great book! Anybody out there have it? Do you enjoy it? Anyways, from there off to the fabric store! OOOH bad! LOL got some fabrics on sale ... That's a good way to buy it because it seems if you buy it regular price you are not saving anything sewing it yourself, other than having to repair a seem later. So I got some flannel I liked and some T-shirt fabric for my nephew's shirt he asked for (special to match his Jammie pants). I got a bit of fleece too. And that was about it. Off to Costco. Well that was groceries right . . . groceries are always a nasty stop. The bill is always higher than you think and what you carry out is not as much as one thinks you should get for what you paid . .. but ya gotta eat! so . . that be that. I still didn't get everything I wanted so . . . more grocery shopping! OI.
So, I head home tomorrow. Supposed to be damn cold . . .yukko, nice in the city but snowy and cold at home . .. almost wanna stay but . . can't have to go home sometime. I miss my hubby.
So, Catch you all later!

Anyways, just a thought.

Traveling
I made it to the city safe and sound. Hooray! Yes with the windchill being up so high I really debated whether I wanted to travel or not. But the roads all said good winter driving so. . packed up and here I am in the city.
Before I left, we grabbed the mail! and low and behold there are my two books! that shouldn't have got here till next week . .. with the blizzard I thought it would take longer.. I am guessing they got put on Canada Posts Race Horse, not the slow donkey everything else gets tacked on! LOL Canada post does a good job though . .. So the books I was awaiting, were the Season 4 of the sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Yeah I know its a young story but I love it! And, Men in Knits : Sweaters to Knit That He Will Wear by Tara Jon Manning. Love it. I have no idea who I will knit a sweater for out of it. It is a beautiful book though! There are a couple sweaters I would love to make .. . Dad says he just wants more socks. .. OI! So, More socks it is .. . I wish he would like a sweater but . . . If he doesn't want one . .. I will hunt down someone else to make one for. . . Maybe hubby . .. though . . . we shall see . .. He doesn't seem much for sweaters either . . . sweatshirts yes, sweaters no. So we will see . .. BIL? Maybe, but would be a challenge . . . not so bad though. Well, I guess we will see .. . LOL
So, that's my excitement! I wanna go finish my Dickie for hubby, then I have some socks to make. but tonight I think I will grab a book and read a little then turn out the light . .. now . . which do I read . . . LOL I think I will start the traveling pants! (what a great Christmas present from my hubby!) He also ordered the sweater book when I was drooling over it online . .. He is a sweetheart . . . And I loves him sooo much.
Ah well on that great note I am off to bed and will talk to you all later!

It Was C O L D Today!
I am working on a Dickie for hubby, I finished the back of it this morning (was up kinda early (7:30 am OK its early for me)). I cast on the front tonight. I have a terrible headache though and think I am off to bed. Kinda chilled a little too, probably doesn't help. Anyways . .. off to bed.
Talk to you all again soon,
I am off to the city tomorrow . . . (which buggers because I was going to stop to see a friend on the way through and she won't be home, but the road is probably all snowed in anyways so better to catch her on the way home :), so it is all good).
Well, goodnight, catch ya soon . ..

They Are Done!
And here is the pic . ..
So, that pair of socks is done . .(the color doesn't show as nice in the picture as in real life. They are a darker blue but have a powdery blue to them even though they are nice and dark for men's socks.) I have a few more pair I would like to make, but first, I am going to make Hubby another Dickie, a better one . .. a black one . .. yes, you knitters out there! I said black! LOL It's next. Will be figured out tomorrow and put on the needles, and if he is lucky he will get a matching hat . . . Maybe.
Sounds like the blizzard it winding down out there . .. but then . .. you can wait 5 minutes and it sounds like its just getting wound up again. Will be interesting to see how the province wakes up tomorrow! Glad our Plows and such are back on the road, with the properly qualified operators in them! So, Hooray ! Saskatchewan might actually get moving again!
Anyways, I slept horrible last night, and it's 10:15pm so I think I might just go crawl into bed. MM mm I bet that bed will feel good!
So good night all! Sleep tight!
Talk to you soon!
It's a freaking Blizzard out there!
Hi, Yes, We do have a blizzard. I have a picture to prove it. See where you can normally see the road and the houses over the road, all you see is snow! It's blowing like mad. I am glad I am at home where its warm! We were supposed to make a trip to Melville for hubby to go to the dentist, but we couldn't see accross the street so, no highway trips for us!
These are my Crazy Py. She has fallen in love with the paper bag. She loves playin in there and just crawling in and hanging out. Go figure. Its a cat thing, I know that. She also likes the crinkle of the bag! LOLSo, I have one sock complete like I told you, and I have the leg and heel turned for the second sock, just need to pick up the stitches and decrease for the foot! HOOORaY! I listed some kitchen stuff for sale in my for sale groups. I am going to put a list of my groups up here. And one of my authors/books I love. Maybe today with it being so lovely outside.
Anyways, Off to other things. . .
Catchya later! Keep Warm!

One Sock Be Done!
This is the extention. Well it was supposed to be a deck, but someone wanted walls and a roof on it so he could barbque in the rain. Well, now it has gone full blown into a room. So, The floor right now has 2 doors, stained and drying on it. and under those doors is beautiful Laminate flooring. So it is going to be a dining room I think, hense the feet for the table and chairs. And the funniest part of all this is that he still must barbque in the rain . .. LOL go figure.
So, thats all I have to say, I am off to work on those socks. I wanna get them done! LOL
Talk to you all later!
